Enjoy the winter in Salzburg in all its facets

In summer the Hohe Tauern National Park has been the favourite destination for many hikers and mountaineers for ages. But within the last years, hiking in the Pinzgau has increasingly become a year-round sport. We have adjusted ourselves to this great trend. Therefore, you will find lots of winter hiking trails on your holiday in and around Krimml.

Winter hiking tour to the Krimml Waterfalls

It takes you only 15 minutes to walk from our hotel in Krimml to the world-famous Krimml Waterfalls. Depending on the weather conditions, you can even hike to the highest waterfall and further on through the beautiful Achental Valley to the Krimml Tauernhaus (about 7.5 km from the highest waterfall). Those who do not like to walk this long can also take the so called Wandertaxi, a kind of shuttle bus for hikers.

Circular path Hochkrimml

Spending your winter holiday in the Zillertal Arena has another great advantage: here you are able to relax and thereby enjoy the impressive mountain panorama that surrounds you. The perfect opportunity to do so is the circular path Hochkrimml, which runs across the scenic Gerlosplatte.

Winter paradise the National Park Hotel Klockerhaus - your winter dream in Krimml

Starting your tour at the Klockerhaus

Two lovely hiking tours start right in the centre of Krimml: the Tauernweg and the Panoramaweg. The Panoramaweg leads you from the Klockerhaus to the restaurants Gasthof Burgeck and Gasthof Flkenstein and afterwards back to Krimml via the Tauern Cycle Path (Tauernradweg) (about 3.5 hours to walk). Also the hiking trail to the Seekarsee, a little lake, is highly recommended (about 4 hours to walk).

Winter hiking in ski resorts

The Zillertal Arena as well as the Wildkogel Arena offer special winter hiking paths that are signposted clearly. The big advantage: often, these trails go past mountain restaurants. And after all, you must not miss culinary delights when you are on holiday in the Pinzgau.
